Day 5 at the Winter Youth Olympic Games and one of the most demanding ones so far. I covered the morning 10AM curling game, then took an hour bus out into the mountains of Pyeongchang where I caught the skeleton gold medal races. Between the hikes up and down the hills, and the chilly wind I could really feel it. While my water bottle froze, and my camera (external) started to freeze I am glad to report both the R3 and R6 preformed just fine in -13c (feels like -18).
I packed my snowboarding fit and it worked great - except I was rushed off of the bus and ended up leaving my gloves so my fingers were absolutely feeling it. Big reason why I was feeling it… if my hands were a bit warmer I would have been fine. But it taught me to really listen to the announcements and time the “skeleton on the track! Skeleton on the track!…. Turn 6, turn 10,” and then I would get my hands out and start to work.
