TIL: In 1982, only 22 California condors survived in the wild. This glorious bird is a huge conservation success story. Thanks to dedicated breeding programs and conservation efforts, there are now nearly 350 condors in the wild. At The Peregrine Fund’s World Center for Birds of Prey outside Boise, Idaho, California Condors took flight from a fenced feeding area in snowy weather. The founding members of Environmental Defense Fund were pivotal in the fight to protect bald eagles and other birds from the devastating effects of DDT, back in 1967.
