If you haven’t gotten the vibe for 2024 yet, Ali Krieger will set you straight. A few days before her last NWSL game in October, the soccer legend found out her wife and previous teammate, Ashlyn Harris, had filed for divorce. While her personal life was was crumbling, Krieger’s team, Gotham FC, went to the playoffs, and then the NWSL championship, where she as captain led them to their first national title. In an interview with selfmagazine, Ali says she’s been focusing on her mental health, with help from teammates, friends and family (and dance parties). Now retired, she shared her plans to travel and spend more time with her two children, Sloane and Ocean, as they find a new hope in the simple things in life.
