This past Wednesday, UCF Rosen College held a Red Sand Project installation on campus to bring awareness to the harsh reality of human trafficking and modern slavery. This event was hosted by student organization Knights of the RELM and featured local advocates and UCF resource groups. After a panel presentation, students, staff, faculty, and members of the community gathered around our fountain and spread red sand between gaps in the stone to symbolize individuals who have fallen through the “cracks” of our social, economic, and political systems. The Red Sand Project was started by Molly Gochman in 2014. Over the last decade, Red Sand Project actions have been done in all 50 states and in 70 countries, with more than one million participants.
