Back in the mid-1800s, during the Colorado Gold Rush, miners flocked to the area hoping to strike it rich. Instead of gold, they stumbled upon something just as valuable – a massive copper deposit.
This discovery led to the construction of a bustling mining town called "Copperopolis." Unfortunately, copper prices plummeted in the early 1900s, forcing the town to become a ghost town.
Fast forward to the 1960s, when Chuck Lewis, a visionary developer, saw the potential of the abandoned mines and breathtaking scenery. He had a dream: to build a world-class ski resort unlike any other.
In 1972, his dream became reality when Copper Mountain Resort officially opened its doors. The rest, as they say, is history!
