The Albina Community Archive, an ambitious project from the Albina Music Trust, is scheduled to go live on the Internet on Feb. 1. And to celebrate the archive webpage release, the Albina Music Trust is hosting two events to introduce the project, and bring together a panel to discuss the history of Portland’s Albina neighborhood, which for decades was a center of Black life, culture, community, business and the arts. “This is basically the history of one community, an African American community in Portland, Oregon,” says Calvin Walker, co-founder of the Albina Music Trust, a member of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, and academic advisor at Mount Hood Community College.
