Some of our players sat down with TCU professor Dr. Frederick Gooding Jr. to candidly discuss their motivations behind playing football, the personal sacrifices involved, and share poignant reflections on identity as well as the historical aspects of racism that are in the sport’s history. A thought-provoking conversation that shows the human stories within the game that many of us love. As part of Black History Month, we will share aspects of this conversation with insights from our players as they share their life experiences. Dr. G is an Associate Professor of African American Studies and Dr. Ronald E. Moore Professor in Humanities in the Honors College at TCU and has played an instrumental role in TCU’s Race and Reconciliation Initiative that began in 2020.
