The 1998-99 Red Storm represented #NewYork to the fullest during their historic run. Led by a couple of city kids; including Queensbridge’s own mettaworldpeace37 (formerly known as Ron Artest) and fellow Queens native Erick Barkley, running the show at point, the ‘98-‘99 Red Storm were relentless in every aspect of the game and wrecked havoc on the bigeast finishing with a 14-4 record that year. The starting five, rounded out by Lavor Postell, Bootsy Thornton and Tyrone Grant, marched all the way to the NCAA regional final, defeating Samford, Indiana and Maryland before falling short of a Final Four birth in an Elite 8 loss to Ohio State. The team finished the season with a 28-9 overall record. Today, we honor the Elite 8 team at halftime of the Johnnies vs. UConn game thegarden. Queens will definitely be in the building! #RedStorm
