What a victory for canisiushshoops and coach Kyle Husband ’96 at Saturday’s prestigious Centercourt Classic at St. Joe’s: The Crusaders dug out of a double-digit hole in the first quarter and went on to beat perennial Western New York power Niagara Falls, 52-44, for the 400th victory of Husband’s career.
Husband, who is 400-118 in his 20th season leading his alma mater, achieved the feat on his 46th birthday.
“I’m just fortunate to be able to do it at Canisius for that many years, to have so many great student-athletes and basketball players to play under me,” Husband told Tom Prince of wnyathletics.
Asked what he would like to say to those who played for him, Husband said:
“Thank you … for allowing me to do it for that amount of time, for being such great basketball players and student-athletes and really just wanting to be part of something bigger than me, or them.
