When Hidilyn Diaz started her lift on an Olympic record weight in Tokyo, she didn't think she could do it. Seconds later, a surge of strength pushed 127 kilograms above her head. She did it. Then came a flood tears, shouts of joy, hugs and prayers. "Thank you Lord!" she cried. But the first thing she put around her neck wasn't a gold medal -- which she had won with that record-breaking lift -- it was a Miraculous Medal. A gift from a friend accompanied by a spiritual bouquet novena. Diaz herself prayed a novena to the Blessed Mother, as depicted on the Miraculous Medal. Raised high, her gold medal was a tribute to her family, friends, team, and country of the Philippines.
