Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day! 🤸🏻‍♀️ I may not work in sports full-time, and I may not cover gymnastics as often as I did before, but I'm still proud to be a woman in sports. As I began covering gymnastics and pursuing a career in sports media in college, the impostor syndrome was real. Everyone else in my sports classes were into mainstream sports — not to mention most of them were men — but that didn't make me any less legitimate. I was and sill am a woman in sports. I've interviewed Olympians, provided on-site coverage for major NCAA gymnastics and USA Gymnastics elite competitions and done color commentary for the Illini women's gymnastics team.
