Fifth-year defensive lineman Brett Johnson announced his medical retirement from football via Instagram on Wednesday morning. The redshirt junior cited on and off the field injuries that impede him from competing at the highest level. “This was a difficult decision but with the multiple injuries I have sustained both on and off the field, I am unable to play football at the highest level and without seriously sacrificing my short and long-term health.” Johnson said.
