One of Victoria Police’s newest officers shares a heartfelt connection with the blue_ribbon_foundation – a foundation he credits with helping save his dad’s life. Mark would never have been able to have his dad, Paul, see him graduate at the Victoria Police Academy if not for a lifesaving medical machine donated through the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation. In March last year, Paul’s health quickly deteriorated to the point he required an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine, which provides cardiac and respiratory support to patients whose heart and lungs are unable to keep them alive. The machine was one of two, along with a training centre made possible through a $900,000 donation from the Blue Ribbon Foundation. Fast forward to December, Paul has made a near full recovery.
