The Virginia Senate Courts of Justice Committee approved a bill on Monday that would prohibit individuals from purchasing or possessing firearms if they have been found guilty of assault and battery against their dating partner. Current law only prohibits people convicted of assault or battery against a spouse or family member from buying a gun. The bill, SB 642, introduced by Sen. Russet Perry, would also extend these restrictions to those convicted of domestic violence against a romantic partner. #gunsafetyreform #virginianews #gunlaws #firearms #guncontrol#perry #domesticviolence
