A Valentine to the Moon 💕
The second Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) delivery is launching to the Moon in mid-February. Designated IM-1, the launch is the Intuitive Machine’s first for NASA’s CLPS initiative, which oversees industry development, testing, and launch of small robotic landers and rovers supporting
#Artemis.
Intuitive Machines’ Nova-C lander is expected to touch down near Malapert A, a lunar impact crater in the Moon’s South Pole region, on Thursday, Feb. 22. Among the items on its lander, the IM-1 mission will carry NASA science and technology instruments focusing on plume-surface interactions, space weather/lunar surface interactions, radio astronomy, precision landing technologies, and a communication and navigation node for future autonomous navigation technologies.
The IM-1 mission launch is targeted for a multi-day launch window that opens no earlier than 12:57 a.m. EST on Feb. 14 from Launch Complex 39A at NASAKennedy Space Center in Florida.
