The story of this photo is still as remarkable today as it was when it happened. I’m getting ready for the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game in Vegas to start with Laureen, owner and creator of Beyond The W. We didn’t even know if we were going to make it All-Star Weekend leading up to it but we found a way. During pregame, we - and everyone else - see Kobe Bryant and Gigi pull up courtside. Some outlets were able to meet with him briefly but unfortunately, BTW was not one of them. However, from my space on the baseline, I was able to get the attention of the folks next to them, who directed Kobe and Gigi in my direction. They graciously smiled while I nervously fumbled to get my camera right, and the photo was taken. In light of them being taken from us far too soon - along with the seven others - this photo holds such a deeper meaning to me.
