WHICHAWAY Camp was named because when Co-Founder, Patrick first got to the location, he didn’t know Which-a-way to go. This is our original camp; warm, cozy and with a spectacular view of a glacial ice fall. Situated in the Schirmacher Oasis, this location is unique. It’s an ice-free plateau with more than 100 freshwater lakes, melt streams and glaciers; only around 2% of Antarctica is ice free. Despite the Continent housing around 70% of the world’s freshwater, very little is in its liquid form. The ice-free ground houses lichen and moss. We hosted a group of scientists from saef_arc this season to collect moss and soil samples to analyse and undersand past climate data.
