What started as a luxurious playground for mobsters evolved into a classic Las Vegas entertainment destination, with a topless cabaret act that became the longest-running show in Sin City history. Over the years, the Tropicana’s Blue Room hosted legends like Louis Armstrong and Gladys Knight, as well as over-the-top Prince and Michael Jackson tribute shows. Meanwhile other parts of the hotel have remained modest, compared to other spots on the Strip: If you look at the casino’s ceiling today, you’ll notice some of the original woodwork, and the tranquil pool deck possesses a charm that takes you back to Vegas’ golden days (you know,when you could bask in the desert heat sipping frozen drinks without crowds of bachelor parties fist-pumping to EDM).
