The Orange Springtail (Protonura sp.) or as we call them, "Cheeto" Springtails, has become a recent favorite of ours! Springtails are exceptionally tiny, usually ranging from 1/16th to 1/18th of an inch in length. They exhibit a color spectrum from yellow to red, beginning as white and intensifying in hue as they mature!   Springtails are very important for maintaining healthy ecosystems. These tiny custodians of the soil scavenge decaying plant materials, decomposing and reintroducing nutrients back into the soil. 🧡   While these little "Cheetos" aren't currently on display, you can actively contribute to our mission of educating the public about Butterfly Pavilion's vital role in invertebrate research, conservation, and education!🦋 #ButterflyPavilion #CultureForAll #Springtails #OrangeSpringtail
