Being a deaf mom of three hearing kids brings its own challenges, but also unique moments of joy. 🌟 When my kids have a message for me they'll wave at me or touch me to get my attention. Wait - this is what I'm trying to teach them to do more often than not - of COURSE they sometimes yell and yell louder at me because we (as a DHH family) DO live in a hearing world. It's a constant learning situation. Many times I can kneel down to their height, ready to catch every word from their lips and maintain eye contact. My oldest loves to sign with me - just as she did during her school's community meeting last week - all the way from across the auditorium.
