What a week for CHS Swimming, and what a super Sunday. Just days after earning the program’s 22nd straight All-Catholic championship, the Crusaders won two Catholic state titles Sunday on Long Island. Peter Peyser ‘25 won the 50-yard freestyle and was also part of the winning 200 free relay along with Ryan Stravino ‘24, Atticus Young ‘26 and Erik Parkes ‘24 at the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow. Peyser lowered his school record to 21.15 seconds in the 50 free. In the 200 free relay, the Crusaders had a time of 1:26.92 as they won by 0.05 seconds. The victories earned both automatic qualification to the overall New York State Championships on March 1-2 at Ithaca College. Catholic school swimmers can only qualify for the overall state championships by winning their event at the CHSAA state meet.
