Penn State Students for Justice in Palestine, community members and students gathered in front of the Allen Street Gates to protest after at least 67 Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes in Rafah, Gaza on Monday. According to fliers promoting the event, “Israel is bombarding the most densely populated city in Gaza. Rafah, the only ‘safe zone’ in Gaza, houses over 1 million Palestinians.” The protesters, with signs stating “permanent ceasefire now,” consolidated in front of Palestinian, South African and Irish flags to symbolize past struggles — and triumphs — over occupation.
