“Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is home to approximately 600 mountain gorillas, which is half of all mountain gorillas remaining in the world. The species is currently listed as endangered by the IUCN, but conservationists are optimistic for their future wellbeing as populations have been stabilizing and even on the rise in recent years. While visiting the Mucunguzi gorilla family I was struck by the similarities that we share with these creatures. There is something magical about being eye-to-eye with some of the most compelling animals on earth. There were moments of curiosity, inexplicable connection and what felt like understanding – and I will cherish those moments for the rest of my life.” 📸+💭: itsryanwilkes #DiscoveryCollab #gorilla #Uganda #wildlifephotography #BlackHistoryMonth
