There’s nothing more frustrating than the stage where your little ones know what they want but don’t know how to say it yet. This is one of the MANY reasons why we started to teach our kids signs at 6 months old. I’ll admit, it’s not perfect and it’s VERY repetitive (especially when you have three at a time 😅) but it has lessened the communication barrier between us and our kids from such an early age. We started by signing and saying the word together such as “more” “all done” “milk” and “water” and it truly did not take long for them to learn the meaning behind the sign. And now they use these signs everyday to communicate with us.
