Some things to think about with this decision: 1.) DraftKingz and FanDuel, with networks of lobbyists already established, plan to double down on sports betting and enter the industry rather than just be bummed their daily fantasy loophole became much less valuable today. 2.) The New Jersey law that raised this legal question was spearheaded by then NJ governor, Chris Christie. Say what you will but the man seemed due for a win after his string of embarrassing viral videos this year. 3.) You cannot walk into a bar and start betting today. We tried. The SCOTUS decision simply allows states to make a decision on whether or not it’s in their best interest to legalize sports betting.
