Puerto Rico pulled off a huge upset today, beating Haiti who played in last summer’s World Cup. Las Boricuas have qualified for the W Gold Cup. Jill Aguilera scored the winning goal, but you can’t forget about their 6’0 keeper Sydney Martínez— who saved a crucial penalty. 👏🏾🇵🇷 Sydney was born and raised in Georgia and played in U.S. Olympic Development Program during her teenage years. She then attended the University of South Florida, becoming one of the most important players for their program. Her most impressive stint was with Tormenta FC in the USL W League. Not only she captained them to win the championship in 2022, but she was the MVP for the final and also won the Golden Glove. 👏🏾 Sydney then signed her first professional contract with IK Grand Bodø of Norway.
