For decades, Girl Scouts San Diego—a regional nonprofit serving more than 24,000 girl and adult members in San Diego and Imperial counties—has provided the magic of outdoor programming to thousands of campers at our two mountain properties, Camp Winacka and Camp Whispering Oaks, in Julian, CA. Every summer, campers engage in outdoor activities, and are empowered to thrive physically, emotionally, and mentally. If a wildfire were to occur on our Julian properties, it could put a lot of children at risk. Girl Scouts is a leadership organization and the first non-government organization in San Diego County to use permitted air curtain burners. We are proud to unveil our vegetation treatment plan, comprised of three key projects—Fuel Reduction, Tree Nursery, and Water Treatment Plan Emergency Generator—which are supported by a $759,000+ grant from the San Diego River Conservancy.
