Kids shouldn’t be subjected to solitary confinement under any circumstances. Especially not as a solution to understaffing. ⁠ ⁠ This unacceptable practice doesn’t stop them from harming themselves or others. It leads to death, and mental illnesses & fosters anger and hostility. No one is being protected.⁠ ⁠ These facilities must invest in more strategies for de-escalating tensions through improved staff training, stronger behavior management plans, and a culture change from the management level on down so that solitary is no longer considered the “only tool” for dealing with problematic behavior.⁠ ⁠ Vote YES on HB 746! #EndSolitary #CareNotCages
