Richard Aloysius Twine was born in St. Augustine, FL, on May 11, 1896, in the historic neighborhood Lincolnville. Throughout the 1920s, Twine worked as a photographer in the area, documenting life in the African American community. He continued his work in Lincolnville until 1927, at which time he moved to Miami to join his brother in a restaurant business. In 2021, the St. Augustine Historical Society (@oldesthouse) obtained a collection of glass-plate negatives of Twine's work.
