After an impressive run at last summer’s World Cup, Colombia will try to contend for the W Gold Cup.
One of their emerging youngsters is the Colombian-American defender Ángela Barón, born and raised in Texas. 🇨🇴🇺🇸
She left college at 19 to turn pro with Atlético Nacional.
Because of her solid high school career, Ángela was called up to the Colombian national team in 2021, aged 17.
She then played college soccer at Arizona Wildcats, but left after one year because she was ready to turn pro.
The center-back signed with Colombian giants in 2023.
Ángela has been a part of the Colombian squad in the 2022 Copa América Femenina and the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
But this W Gold Cup could provide a platform for her to break out with the national team.
The 20-year-old has been impressive with Atlético Nacional.
Colombia will be in the group with Brazil, Panamá, and Puerto Rico.
