On Saturday, the freshman girls basketball team took on Anderson and Connally in the first two scrimmages of the season.
For a team that came together just days before the scrimmages, they made some positive plays but were no match for longtime rival Anderson.
"Since we have two freshman teams, we did this thing where the freshman B team played in the first half, and then freshman A would come in and have to catch up in the second half, so I think if we had been playing separately, the scores would've been different. Even though we lost to Anderson, I don't think we lost as much as we could have," freshman A team player Evelyn Jenkins said.
The second scrimmage against Connally was more evenly matched, with the Knights scoring just a few points more than the Cougars and leaving the gym victorious.
