The boys freshman basketball team continued its winning streak by beating the Hays Rebels last night. “Going into the game we knew it was going to be pretty even, so we really had to work hard to hold them off,” freshman Tristin Wright said. The Knights led at the end of the first quarter, 8-6, thanks to six points scored by freshman Coda Becker. As the game continued, the score was neck and neck. In the second quarter the Knights added 10 more points to lead at halftime, 18-14. In the second half, the Knights held off the Rebels to win by a final score of 46-38. As the team continues its season, Wright knows exactly where the team must improve. “Overall, we need to work on our defense and boxing out, so the opposing team isn’t able to make as many rebounds,” Wright said. The Knights will compete in the annual freshman and JV tournament in Buda this Thursday and Friday. Caption by Leah Gordon. Photos by Leah Gordon and Julia Copas.
