We asked the softball coaches to recommend a player we should interview about the Knights' 23-2 dismantling of Travis on April 14.
You know it’s a good game for the Knights when head coach Rachel Whatley responds with this statement.
“Anyone really, it was a great team effort.”
We can’t really interview the whole team for an Insta caption, though, Coach. How about one name?
“Lila Brotherton had a good game,” assistant coach Vaughn Stockton suggested, “including an inside-the-park home run.”
Brotherton came to bat in the third inning with teammate Jordyn Berger on second base.
It was hard to get a good pitch to hit, Brotherton said, because the Rebel pitcher threw slow pitches that seldom found the zone.
Eventually though, Brotherton found a pitch she could handle and drove it past the outfielders to the left-field fence.
Not only did Berger score, but Brotherton circled the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
Suffice it to say that wasn’t the only highlight for the Knight...
