The true leaders in the fight against climate change remain hidden in the shadows. Nobel Laureate, Abhijit Banerjee, sees climate-affected developing nations as a key piece of the puzzle. “The world's poorest live mostly in the hottest countries and they're getting hotter,” says Banerjee. “Affluent people can put on the air conditioning and hide but that makes the problem, in a sense, worse. It's just solving it for them.” The development economist proposes a three-fold approach to distributing climate compensation – that doesn’t rely solely on raising energy prices and hurting those who can’t keep up.
