STOOD ON BUSINESS: The boys varsity basketball team opened district play with a historic win at LBJ Tuesday night. The Knights doubled up the host Jags, 56-28, thanks to a balanced scoring effort and a stingy defense. George McCoy and Henry Mayes led the charge with 12 points each. Ethan Plummer and Tommy Ammerman each chipped in eight. The Knights defeat the Jaguars last year at home but lost to them on the road to end an 11-year drought for the Knights in the series. We are still trying to figure out the last time the Knights won a boys varsity basketball game at LBJ. Coach Fuentes told us he doesn’t know but it’s likely the largest margin of victory the Knights have ever enjoyed playing in that gym, a notoriously difficult venue for road teams.
