Junior George McCoy and sophomore Ethan Plummer each scored a game-high 15 points as the varsity basketball team defeated LBJ 63-40 Tuesday night at home to complete a season sweep of the Jaguars for the first time since the 2007-2008 season – 16 years ago. In that season, the Knights earned the sweep, but the Jags still won the district title. This season, the Knights aim for both a season sweep and the district championship. After Tuesday’s win, the Knights (8-0) remain undefeated as they begin the second half of the district season while the Jags (4-4) remain in the top half of the district standing behind McCallum, LASA and Crockett. Junior George Brode chipped in 10 points for the Knights on Tuesday while junior Luke Dunham scored eight and Junior Felix Kahlor four. The Knights travel to Navarro Friday night and return to DCG on Tuesday for a key showdown with second-place LASA (7-1), whose only district loss this season was a 61-38 setback to the undefeated Knights.
