THE KNIGHTS’ EIGHT: The JV girls soccer team defeated Northeast on Friday Jan. 12 by a score of 8-0 for its first district win. Freshman Athena Wintle said that the Knights started off confident and excited because it was their first district game. “We were connecting our passes, communicating and scored within the first few minutes,” she said. “We definitely felt capable of winning,” Wintle added. “The hard part was not scoring too much because we can only score eight goals.” Wintle said this team was easier to play than some past JV opponents. “Their players were less skilled,” she said. “They knew less tactic-wise so it was easy to just pass around them and make simple runs. Whenever they got the ball we could win it back with very little effort.” The JV did not play Friday because the team’s game with LBJ was canceled due to “facilities issues.” The JV Knights return to the pitch 6 p.m. Wednesday at House Park where they will face the LASA Raptors.
