MAKING HISTORY: The varsity girls basketball team ended a historic season last Friday as they lost 66-52 to Lake Belton in their first area playoff round appearance in decades. Going into the game, junior point guard Emy Chen experienced some nerves due to her familiarity with the Mustangs’ skill level. “I played with three of their players over the summer and I knew they were pretty good,” Chen said. “I think that was something that we had to focus on mentally before the game, just trusting and knowing that we could win. For much of the game, the bi-district champs held their own as they trailed closely behind the Mustangs. “We talked a lot about trying to push in transition, and I think that worked out well for us when we did,” Chen said. “It came down to getting stops and scoring but it fell through because we kept trading baskets.
