Virginia Democrats introduced a new slate of gun safety bills this year that are being considered in the state’s 2024 legislative session. HB 2 would make it a Class 1 misdemeanor to possess, sell, purchase, manufacture, transport, or transfer assault firearms. The bill defines an assault firearm as a semi-automatic rifle or pistol with a fixed magazine capacity of over 10 rounds or the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
