Do You Think This Counts as a Carbon-Positive Hotel?
Denver is set to be home to Populus, the first carbon-positive hotel in the U.S., a groundbreaking project by Urban Villages. Slated for a 2024 opening, this 265-room establishment will feature a rooftop restaurant and bar, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and city skyline, alongside retail and event spaces. What sets Populus apart is its design, inspired by Colorado’s aspen trees, crafted by the acclaimed Studio Gang. This design not only captivates visually but also functions to enhance the building’s energy efficiency and environmental impact.
The project’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its construction, with plans to plant trees equivalent to over 5,000 acres of forest, significantly offsetting its carbon footprint. This initiative positions Populus as a leader in the fight against climate change, setting new standards for the hospitality industry....
