Former Indianapolis Indian Eric Davis received the Roberto Clemente Award in 1997 after returning to baseball following a colon cancer diagnosis. He hung up his cleats after the 2001 season as a two-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, 1989 Home Run Derby champion and 1990 World Series champion, and was inducted into the reds Hall of Fame in 2005.
