Matthew Mungle grew up in Atoka, Oklahoma and studied at Oklahoma State University before heading out to Hollywood to study under make-up artist Joe Blasco. After his first big break on Tim Burton's "Edward Scissorhands," Mungle grew into one of the premiere Special Effects Make-Up Artists in the entertainment business.
Mungle has been nominated four times for the Academy Awards, including "Schindler's List," "Ghosts of Mississippi," and "Albert Nobbs," winning in 1992 for "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Mungle has also been nominated for 26 Emmy Awards, winning six times for "The X-Files," "Six Feet Under," "John Adams," "Citizen Cohn," "State of the Inion," and "Door to Door" with William H. Macy. Last year, Mungle created all of the aging make-up for Forrest Whittaker and Oprah Winfrey in "The Butler" before returning back to his 8-year stint on "CSI."
