Norman native and University of Oklahoma graduate Jill Simpson landed her first film job on Francis Ford Coppola's "Rumble Fish" in Tulsa before working in Los Angeles for 18 years on classic films like "Sister Act" and "The War of the Roses."
Since returning home to serve as Director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, Simpson has shepherded several bills into law and seen the economic impact of the film industry reach $400 million. Simpson has aggressively pursued studios to produce Oklahoma-themed projects here in Oklahoma, luring in major films like "Rudderless," "August: Osage County," and "To The Wonder" to Oklahoma. And, her most recent triumph, getting the Film Rebate extended for 10 years, is already attracting the attention of movie and television studios. Several people have helped the film industry grow in Oklahoma, but only Jill Simpson has dedicated her entire life for the past decade to make it happen.
