UC President Michael V. Drake announced a Systemwide Office of Civil Rights, or SOCR, in a press release Tuesday. The SOCR will provide centralized oversight and support on issues that pertain to protecting civil rights across the UC system. The SOCR will serve as an umbrella office for administering systemwide leadership, guidance and support across all UC campuses, medical centers, national laboratories — including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory — and the UC Office of the President.
