Outside the NationalesAutomuseum – The Loh Collection in Dietzhölztal, Germany sits the Type 50S - chassis no. 50177 – and its modern tribute, the ‘Hommage Type 50S’.
In 1931, BUGATTI entered three separate chassis of the Type 50S into the Le Mans 24 Hours – the brand’s first participation in this legendary race. One of them - chassis no. 50177 – carried the No 5 and inspired BUGATTI’s latest ‘Sur Mesure’ CHIRON Super Sport creation.
Cloaked in a dark and lustrous black, the Molsheim masterwork captures the essence of the marque’s remarkable racing heritage. Throughout the design there are delicate nods to its legendary predecessor. A silhouette of the Circuit de la Sarthe on the underside of the rear spoiler evokes memories of BUGATTI’s exploits at Le Mans.
