Jaeki Cho—the Queens native behind righteouseats —brought us along on the ultimate self-care day in the Korean American enclave of Flushing.
“For many Korean Americans like myself, our way of taking a day off, especially if doing it solo, is eating our culture’s soul food and taking care of ourselves from the perspective of mind, body, and spirit, through self-care and familiar traditions,” Cho tells us.
He takes us out for coffee and rainbow cake at GongGan, a spot reminiscent of Seoul’s cafes, followed by a cold plunge and sauna session at New York Spa, and a pitstop at a market that prepares kimchi and banchan in-house.
