K-TOWN LEGEND Carl Long along w/ Frank Washington broke the color barrier for the Carolina League Kinston Eagles (1955). Long made his Pro Negro League debut w/ the Birmingham Black Barons (1952). Long holds the single season RBI record for any Kinston player, w/ 111 (1956). He was a Negro League All-Star (1953), & a Carolina League All-Star (1956) before retiring in Kinston. He was inducted into the Kinston Pro Baseball HOF (2003) & the Lenoir County Sports HOF. ⚾⚾ He continued to break the color barrier by becoming Kinston's first black bus driver, Lenoir County's first black deputy & black detective within the Sheriff's Dept. 🚌🚓 We will be having Carl Long day on May 9th to celebrate the K-Town Legend! #Kinston #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth #blackhistory
