Officials with the tri-government Unified Command set up to tackle the burgeoning fentanyl crisis in downtown Portland announced Thursday the emergency closure of two BottleDrop Redemption Centers in downtown. The temporary closure will shutter bottle machines at the Safeway on Southwest 10th Avenue and a neighboring Plaid Pantry convenience store across the street for a 30-day trial period, said Mike Myers, the director of Portland’s Community Safety Division.
