In Colorado, there is a road that is both breathtakingly beautiful and potentially treacherous. Built into the side of the mountain, it is filled with switchbacks, snow, falling rocks, icy roads and beautiful scenery that’s hard to take in as you’re moving from switchback to switchback. As I was driving over the pass, the thought occured to me “this would be a great photo.” I reached the top of the pass, pulled off at the rest stop and got my drone ready for takeoff. Because it was the end of my day, I was down to my last battery, my card was low on available memory and it was going to be touch-and-go whether I’d have enough battery life to get the photo I wanted. I watched the battery drain down while I the scenery passed below me.
