Masks, fancy attire and elaborate costumes filled the Missouri Theatre for the True/False Fest Jubilee. During the hour-and-a-half long celebration, attendees were served refreshments on silver platters and drinks at three different bars. The Columbia Art League also opened its connecting door to the Missouri Theatre lobby for attendees to roam. Many returning attendees were dressed in handmade costumes, which is a ritual they have been doing for years.
“I try and do something different every year for the past five or six years,” said Sarah Myers, who adorned a hat with dried water lilies. “Initially I had these things that were nature themed, but very non-biodegradable. So the past few years I’ve just been trying to do something that I can recycle.”
True/False Fest will be continuing through March 3 with more events and film screenings.
